Le groupe pourrait ne plus sortir d'albums, notamment car le précédent s'est très mal vendu (pour Journey ou du moins par rapport à leurs attentes, car d'autres rêveraient d'atteindre ces chiffres) :
According to The Pulse Of Radio, JOURNEY's recording days might be a thing of the past. Due to shifting audiences and the general nature of the music business, keyboardist Jonathan Cain thinks that maybe the band is done releasing new music. JOURNEY's last studio album, "Eclipse", was released in May 2011. The Walmart exclusive debuted on The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 13 — eight spots lower than the band's previous album, 2008's "Revelation" — which also went on to hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart.

Jonathan Cain told The Pulse Of Radio that the pressing need for new JOURNEY music has seemed to fade. "Y'know, we're not convinced the market will bear another CD from us, y'know?" he said. "And it's so much work to make one. Y'know, maybe we get a soundtrack shot with a movie. And the last album we made was a departure. It was Neil [Schon's] 'I wanna do one this way once' — and so we did. Y'know, we did a heavy, rock n' roll record. And it kinda wasn't received very well here in the States and they kinda liked it in Europe and that's kinda what I thought was gonna happen and it barely sold 100,000 [copies]."

Cain went on to explain that after "Eclipse" failed to score with both old fans and new converts, the entire band has had to pause and take stock of where they're at creatively.

"After all that time and money, y'know, what are we doing here, y'know?" he said. "So, we have a great catalogue here, right now to play. We got a lot of songs that we're not even playing. So, we're like, 'What's the point of makin' a new CD right now?' Y'know, if anything, we'll make an EP."

Deen Castronovo arrêté dans un premier temps pour violence domestique est désormais accusé de viol. :/
According to TMZ, Journey drummer Deen Castronovo's recent arrest for domestic violence has gotten worse… he’s now been charged with rape.

“The Journey drummer had been arrested earlier this month for domestic violence related charges involving his wife, but now the D.A. has added new charges - rape, sexual abuse, coercion and unlawful use of a weapon. Castronovo is being held without bail in Marion County, Oregon.

Castronovo is set to appear in court today at 3 PM. Stay tuned for updates.

Journey "have made the decision to have Omar Hakim play drums for the band’s upcoming US concerts (Stadium of Fire in Provo, Utah on July 4th), as well as the band's Canadian tour (July 6th – August 3rd), due to Deen Castronovo’s pending issues. We are very grateful to Omar filling in with his musical excellence."

Former JOURNEY drummer Deen Castronovo spoke to the Statestman Journal about his arrest for domestic violence charges in June and his recently completed court-ordered drug rehabilitation. You can watch the chat below.

After being released on $20,000 bail on June 15, Castronovo called the victim 35 times and sent her 122 text messages, despite being under a court order to have no contact with her. He was arrested again on June 29 on a grand jury indictment which charged him with five counts of fourth-degree assault, one count of first-degree rape, two counts of menacing, one count of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of second-degree assault, one count of second-degree sex abuse, one count of coercion, one count of second-degree criminal mischief, and three counts of contempt of court.

At a July 1 bail hearing, Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Gardiner said that Castronovo threw the woman into a wall 14 times, pulled her hair and forced her to have sex with him.

The 51-year-old musician, who replaced Steve Smith as JOURNEY's drummer in 1998, told the Statestman Journal: "I was a verbally abusive man. I was a physically abusive man."

"This is not about clearing my name," he added. "The only way I'm going to get my family's trust back is to walk the walk. I've let everybody in the community down, everyone who ever put any faith and trust in me."

He went on to say: "Domestic violence is really a choice, and it is calculated. The drugs and the alcohol exacerbated it immensely, but there's no excuse for what I did. I deal with it every day, and it's deeper than regret or remorse."

Castronovo also defended his former bandmatres for firing him. He said: "They had to. They have an impeccable legacy, and I tarnished that. They didn't fire me to punish me. They fired me because they love me and they wanted me to get help. They knew I couldn't do it and be on the road."

Former JOURNEY drummer Deen Castronovo says that he was kicked out of the band in early August — two months after he was charged with domestic abuse.

The 51-year-old musician, who replaced Steve Smith as JOURNEY's drummer in 1998, was arrested last June after an altercation at his Salem, Oregon home. It was later revealed that, upon Castronovo's arrest on June 14, he was first taken to Salem Hospital because he had overdosed on methamphetamine.

Speaking to Ultimate Classic Rock, Castronovo stated about his status in JOURNEY: "I was fired on August 10th. I was terminated. They haven't released an official announcement, but, yeah, I was fired. I was in treatment at the time and I'm grateful that I was in treatment to be able to process that, because that was heartbreaking. But then again, you know, JOURNEY has a stellar legacy and I've tarnished that, and they did the right thing. They did what they needed to do. Not because they were punishing me, because it wasn't about punishing me or wrecking my life. They didn't do anything of the sort. They did this because they loved me and they wanted to see me alive. That's the beauty of it. It wasn't about, 'Oh, let's just kick him out because he's a loser and he's just a drug addict.' They knew that I wouldn't be able to fix this if I was touring or if I was working with the band, or if I was being pulled back and forth. I needed to have solid recovery and to put this first, and they did the right thing. I mean, it was horrible and it's heartbreaking, because they're brothers, but they did the right thing, man. They knew I needed a lot more than just a few months or six months or three months or whatever it was to get this stuff right — because this is not a quick fix."

Asked what the communication has been like between him and his former bandmates, Deen said: "They had an opportunity. They had the phone number to call me and leave messages at Hazelden [drug treatment center]. But I never heard from them, and I think they were just giving me the space I needed to keep myself focused. You know, I don't think it was a personal thing. I've gotten a few texts from Neal [Schon] lately, and I got a couple of texts from Jonathan [Cain], but that's about it. I actually had to call John Baruck, the manager, and ask on August 10th if I was still in the band and he said, 'Well, we've decided to terminate you.' And you know, I understand, dude. You know what? My best thinking got me here. Bottom line. My actions and choices have destroyed everything. So, it's now time to rebuild and, for the first time in my life, I actually like who I am — and I've never liked who I am."

In the same interview, Castronovo admitted that he has "been on and off the wagon for years." He added: "It's been a struggle and the band has given me a bajillion chances and I kept screwing those chances up. Finally, it came to a head this year, you know. There's been a lot of emotional, verbal and physical abuse with [my ex-fiancée] and myself, and it came to a head after this last tour. I hit lower than bottom, and it's something that I'm going to have to fight the rest of my life."

Former JOURNEY drummer Deen Castronovo has released a statement apologizing to everyone he "let down," explaining that he "hit [his] bottom" after being arrested on charges of domestic abuse. The 51-year-old musician, who replaced Steve Smith as JOURNEY's drummer in 1998, was arrested last June after an altercation at his Salem, Oregon home.

Castronovo's statement reads as follows:

"Two weeks ago, I, Deen Catronovo, made a plea deal with Salem, Oregon prosecutors. I plead guilty to one count of coercion, one count of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of assault 4, and 2 counts of menacing.

"Anyone who witnessed the events remains adamant that my abrasive behavior stemmed from the fact that I was at a drug-induced psychosis level of intoxication at the time of the occurrences. Otherwise, I am an easy-going guy who loves being a father and a musician.

"After my indictment in June, I completed a 75-day inpatient treatment program at the Hazelden Betty Ford Springbrook Center, the most comprehensive drug abuse treatment center in the State of Oregon. It was at Hazelden that I quickly realized how dire the situation had become. I made a vow to myself and my family to not only stay sober but to dedicate time telling my story, speaking to promote sobriety, being a good example to my sons and advocating for the rights and assistance of domestic-violence victims. I hope by telling my story I can help prevent someone else from making the same mistakes I did.

"Taking into consideration that I have been able to stay completely sober since my indictment in June as well as the fact that I have continued domestic-violence and drug counseling without any difficulties, Judge Jamese Rhodes sentenced me to four years of probation. The probation requires me to continue the domestic violence and drug abuse counseling.

"At the sentencing, I apologized to my ex-fiancée, Deidra, and her family for the hurt I have put them through. I continue to wish Deidra the best. I know Deidra is not at fault for my behavior nor the consequences I have suffered because of it. Again, I want to apologize to Deidra, her family, my family, my bandmates in JOURNEY and the fans of JOURNEY. I'm sorry I let you all down. I have hit my bottom and I'm taking the necessary steps to ensuring that this never happens again.

"As devastating as this was for me, it was far more devastating to Deidra and our children. Had it not been for her calling the police and the intervention of the prosecutors, I'd probably be dead.

"I'm going to focus on my family, finding happiness in sobriety and helping others who might be going down the wrong path to avoid destruction. For now I'm taking it one day at a time and looking to discover what new path God has planned for me."

Ce qui permet à Steve Smith de revenir à la batterie :
Neal Schon (founding member and lead guitarist), original member Ross Valory (bass), and longtime members Jonathan Cain (keyboardist) and Arnel Pineda (lead singer), are welcoming virtuoso drummer Steve Smith back into JOURNEY, marking the first time he will perform with the band since 1998. Schon and Smith have always remained close friends and musical collaborators. Smith has lent his incredible talent to several of Schon's solo albums, including critically acclaimed "The Calling", and, most recently, "Vortex".

Schon was thrilled when Smith accepted his invitation to rejoin JOURNEY, exclaiming: "I'm so looking forward to the very exciting 2016 we have planned, starting with my 'Neal Vortex Schon' Japan tour in February and then our major summer tour with THE DOOBIE BROTHERS and Dave Mason. We will see you all soon!!!!"
