Swedish sleaze rockers BACKYARD BABIES will go on indefinite hiatus following their upcoming European tour. "We will take a well-deserved break," the band's frontman Nicke Borg, 36, told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Over the course of its 20-year career, the BACKYARD BABIES has churned out six studio albums, various collections and live recordings in addition to touring incessantly in support of each release.

"I have spent 20 years on the road and am happy with it," Borg told Aftonbladet. "For me, its time to puruse another way of life, with a bit more security. Plus I am extremely creative and want to work all the time. There is so much I want to do that I, unfortunately, did not have time for when I was constantly on tour."

To celebrate two decades together, BACKYARD BABIES will embark on the "Them XX Tour" in January/February. In addition, they will release a deluxe 120-page book titled "Them XX" containing private photos, three CDs and a DVD-documentary that conveys the 20 years of the BACKYARD BABIES story.

BACKYARD BABIES supported MÖTLEY CRÜE on select dates in Europe this past summer.

The band's latest, self-titled album topped the chart in the group's home country in its first week of release. The CD also entered the Finnish album chart at No. 31.

Released in Europe on August 18, 2008 via Billion Dollar Babies/Spinefarm, "Backyard Babies" was recorded during 90 sweaty days and nights at Polar and Big Island Sound studios in Stockholm with producer Jacob Hellner (RAMMSTEIN, APOCALYPTICA).

J'ai jamais trop compris pourquoi ce groupe a eu tant de succès (enfin succès relatif, vu qu'ils arrêtent...)

Y a que Stockolm Syndrome que j'ai vraiment aimé, le reste c'est vrai que j'ai toujours trouvé cela un peu mou du genou sur CD tout du moins car en live, c'est bien plus rentre dedans.

Mouais.... vu en première partie de Mötley cette année, et j'ai trouvé ça chiantissime. Pourtant j'ai l'impression qu'à une époque c'était plus rock'n'roll... à moins que j'aie confondu avec un autre groupe.

un groupe dans lequel j'avais fondé beaucoup d'espoirs apres les 2 premiers albums.pis,ca été de déception en déception apres cela.je trouvais ca mou,pas inspiré.du coup ça me fait ni chaud ni froid.

La louze Vu cette année en live et c'était énorme, une énergie démentielle sur scène, un trip plus hard rock voire même rock tout court mais excellent, à l'image des deux derniers albums... Dommage c'était une de mes meilleurs récentes découvertes

c'est eux qui avaient fait la tournée avec Crashdiet? je me rappelle jamais bien ils ont tous la même tête ces groupes j'avais trouvé ça pas mal du tout sur scène si c'est eux, même si c'est toujours la même chose. Au bout de 5 morceaux le bar t'appelle

Non, avec Crashdiet c'était Hardcore Superstar Moi j'aime beaucoup ces derniers, et j'aime beaucoup aussi les Backyard Babies. J'accroche bien au sleaze rock en général, en fait Hardcore Superstar a des influences bien plus metal, parfois limite thrash, alors que chez les Backyard Babies, l'aspect punk est un peu plus marqué. En tout cas, ils me manqueront (d'ici à leur reformation ) et je regrette de les avoir toujours loupés

Perso j'aime bien ce groupe, j'ai eu la chance de les voir en 2001 et 2009.
Il faut dire que c'etait bien plus sympa live et sur cd en 2001.

Five years after their announced that they were going on an "indefinite hiatus," Swedish sleaze rockers BACKYARD BABIES are back and are working on a new studio album for a 2015 release. The band has also been confirmed for next year's edition of the Sweden Rock Festival, set to take place June 3-6, 2015 in Sölvesborg, Sweden.

In a 2009 interview with Classic Rock magazine, BACKYARD BABIES
guitarist Dregen stated about the band's decision to take a break. "We've been touring, recording and writing for 20 years, the last 10 at a very intense level. It's time for a well-deserved break before we begin writing the next album. . . We're talking months. For the BACKYARD BABIES, two weeks is a long time. If the hiatus lasted for a year, that would be an absolute maximum. During that time we won't be booking any shows, just trying to find a new spark."

Pas curieux du tout, ils ont essayé de faire leur truc chacun de leur côté, ont vu qu'ils ne vendaient pas en solo, et ne remplissaient pas les salles, n'ont plus une thune et ont décidé de reformer le groupe qui les fait vivre.

Veteran Swedish rockers BACKYARD BABIES have released a new single, "Shovin' Rocks". The track is taken from the band's forthcoming album, "Silver And Gold", which is scheduled for an early 2019 release via Century Media.

The band comments: "We will soon enough celebrate 30 years as BACKYARD BABIES, with the original lineup intact, and 'Shovin' Rocks' is in full covering that fact. This is our first single in a major since 'Look At You', our breakthrough single from 1998. If you don't love this, then you don't love rock 'n' roll."

The video for "Shovin' Rocks", which directed by BACKYARD BABIES drummer Peder Carlsson, can be seen below.

Jens Prüter, head of A&R Century Media Europe, comments on signing BACKYARD BABIES: "It's no surprise that you meet twice if both a label and a band are already around for almost 30 years. It's 12 years ago when we worked together on the 'People Like People Like People Like Us' album and it feels great to welcome back the BACKYARD BABIES to celebrate their 30th anniversary of rock 'n' roll with a new album in early 2019. BACKYARD BABIES officially reunited in 2014, five years after they announced that they were going on an "indefinite hiatus." A new album, "Four By Four", arrived in 2015.
