Samael - Hegemony

Swiss black metal pioneers SAMAEL have already given fans a first glimpse of their upcoming album “Hegemony” in the form of a music video premiere for the track “Angel of Wrath”.

“Hegemony” is not only an exceptional addition to the SAMEL discography alongside albums such as "Passage" and "Eternal" the album will also mark the band’s 30th anniversary!

The band states:
“The creative process that leads to the completion of « Hegemony » took over 4 years. Throughout that time we lived with and saw each song growing into what they finally became.
« Hegemony » is an album that acknowledges the world we're living in, and emphasized on the effort to take control of that world. It's all about change and evolution.
It's a strong statement, a testament of our time and a call for revolution.”

Founded in 1987 as an old school black metal act that was influenced by the likes of Bathory, fellow countrymen Celtic Frost, and Venom, the brothers Vorph and Xy later developed the band's style further, leaning toward a more industrial dark metal sound. The highly anticipated album "Hegemony" will be released on October 13, 2017 via Napalm Records!

Les paroles et les thèmes de ce groupe valent à eux seuls le détour, j'ai vraiment hâte d'écouter ça! Je ne suis pas trop fan de leurs débuts "extrêmes", mais d'après le son de la vidéo postée ça revient plus à l'indus/goth de Reign of light. Je vais me laisser tenter!!

L'album est vraiment creux, 2-3 bons titres mais une belle resucée de Lux Mundi en moins bien qui était déjà une belle resucée de Reign Of Light en moins bien

Le guitariste quitte le groupe :

Longtime SAMAEL guitarist Marco "Makro" Rivao has decided to leave the group "to do something different." From now on, bassist Thomas "Drop" Betrisey will take over the guitar duties in the Swiss industrial black metal band and a new bass player will be announced shortly.

Rivao said in a statement: "As some of you might know, I've spent the last 16 years playing guitar for SAMAEL. During those years, I had the chance to meet lots of lovely people/fans, which in some cases turned into friendships, and so this statement goes to all of you.

"I've always been a fan of 'Passage', 'Rebellion', 'Ceremony Of Opposites' and when I received a phone call in 2002 from SAMAEL asking me if I'd like to join the band, it felt like an honor and also a chance to make a living out of music.

"All together, we've shared a great amount of good times and I'd like to thank everyone of you for making these moments real.

"SAMAEL is Vorph and Xy's story and I've been mostly a live interpreter for their music, and I'd like to thank them too for offering me this opportunity.

"Now it is time for me to do something different and so I am leaving SAMAEL.

"Vorph, Xy, Drop and all of the outstanding crew members I've worked with during those years are like family to me and so it shall remain.

"Thanks again to all of you for making these past years such an awesome journey with SAMAEL!"

Le bassiste est passé à la guitare. Du coup un nouveau bassiste arrive :

Longtime SAMAEL guitarist Marco "Makro" Rivao left the group in April "to do something different." Bassist Thomas "Drop" Betrisey has since taken over guitar duties in the band.
