According to Mustaine, part of the book reveals how he practiced black magic as a teenager, and how the experience — which inspired the 1986 song "The Conjuring" — affected his life for years after.
"I put two hexes on people, and they both worked and the result was just what I was asking for," he explains. "Now, it took forever to get that Satanic depression off of me because it's just like playing with a Ouija board. You open the doorway to the dark side, and spirits come through. It took almost 20 years to get rid of that Satanic depression. I did it when I was 15, and I don't think I got free of it until I was in my mid-30s.You ask yourself, 'How is it possible that this is happening to me?' Well, because you flirted with the devil and you put a hex on somebody and you put another hex on somebody, and, well, you owe him. And that's why I have a problem playing 'The Conjuring' today."

Mustaine a écrit :In a post on MEGADETH's official forum from early this morning (Friday, October 16), Mustaine writes regarding the Lydverket interview, "These people are scum. Don't listen to their interviews, don't buy their shit magazine, don't go to their pathetic garbage website. And stand by, because as soon as I see that interviewer again, I am going to put him in a hospital. [Note: The Lydverket interview was actually conducted by a female reporter, Kristin Winsents, who is said to be one of the most experienced music journalists in Norway. — Ed.] That is a promise. I will find him too.
"Again, [the interview was] set up by Roadrunner [MEGADETH's record company] and left hanging by the label.
"Too bad the promo person was not there like I asked so this shit wouldn't happen.
"Thanks for nothing, [Roadrunner]."
La journaliste a écrit :"Dear Dave Mustaine,
"I am very sorry that I disgust you. I am a big fan of your new album, and I have great respect for you as the undisputed leader of one of the most successful metal bands of all time. However, I will not stand for threats, and I find it sad that a 48-year-old man with 30 years of media experience tries to put the blame for his own words on me.
"I did not force you to talk about METALLICA.
"You want to see the whole interview? You are more than welcome. I am sorry to inform you, though, that it will blow your perception of me asking questions about METALLICA. Because I did not."
