Leur nouvel album est prêt. Le titre n'est pas encore fixé mais la sortie est prévue pour l'automne.

Swedish Melodic Death experts SOILWORK have finished work for their new, yet untitled album which will get in stores in autumn this year. "All I can say, it sounds excellent... great sound, great playing and a good mix of songs," says guitarist Ola Frenning on the band's official website http://www.soilwork.org
The vocals of Björn "Speed" Strid were recorded in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with the help of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mastermind Devin Townsend who already worked together with SOILWORK on their 2002 effort "Natural Born Chaos". Songtitles set to appear on the album include 'Your Beloved Scapegoat', 'Light Discovering Darkness', 'The Snare Broken' and 'The Pittsburgh Syndrome'.

j'ai jamais vraiment accroché ce groupe, mais j'irai quand même écouter cet album.

J'adore ce groupe.

J'attends forcément beaucoup de cet album, mais avec Wichers en moins, j'ai peur que la qualité des chansons en prenne un coup vu que c'était le principal compositeur du groupe.

Devin Townsend a produit l'album, comme à l'époque de Natural Born Chaos, mon album préféré des Suédois avec A Predator's Portrait...

J'espère que la magie aura de nouveau opéré

Le dernier que j'ai aimé d'eux c'était justement avec Townsend aux manettes, Natural Born Chaos.
Si ça leur fait de l'effet je jetterai peut-être une oreille dessus...

Ben moi je préférais le successeur à Natural en fait, Figure#5! Et Stabbing The Drama j'aime pas mal aussi

J'aime beaucoup Stabbing the Drama, un peu moins Figure Number Five mais il contient quand même de beaux brûlots.

L'idéal pour moi serait une suite logique à A Predator's Portrait et Natural Born Chaos mais bon, s'il est aussi bien que Stabbing the Drama, ce sera déjà un excellent album

Strid estime que cet album est comme un best of de SOILWORK :

Tangra Mega Rock: How does the new SOILWORK album sound to you, in your heart?

Strid: Well, it sounds really fuckin' solid! I think it's almost like a best-of-album, because it has all the elements that we've had through the years. What we did for this new CD is that we brought back some of the thrashier elements and also incorporated more guitar harmonies, which kind of developed the album. We sort of did a reference to "Natural Born Chaos" (2002) — not that we tried to make "Natural Born Chaos Nr. 2", but we like the vibe we had on that album, so we wanted to create that on the new release plus really take it to a new level. I think it became a well-balanced, solid album with a lot of cool elements in it.

Tangra Mega Rock: Some two years ago your long-time guitarist Peter Wichers left. A month ago we had the chance to talk to him, and he said you're still good friends, but how long did it take you to return to your daily routine and get strong again after losing this guy?

Strid: Of course we were all sad to see him go. We were pretty close and you know, me and Peter started the band back in 1997... It's like losing a brother, but I knew that we were still gonna be friends, so now I miss him more like a friend than a musician, because I felt we have what it takes to make another great album without him. We have the knowledge and I don't think we should underestimate ourselves as songwriters, as all the members have been contributing with songs in the past and I've always done the melodies for the vocals. We just felt that we have so much more to give and we had to turn it into something good. A lot of songs started to flow, and a lot of them were really good, so after a while I was not so nervous anymore, as it was really sounding SOILWORK.

Tangra Mega Rock: So what's the best thing about "Sworn to a Great Divide"? Is it better compared to its predecessor, "Stabbing the Drama" (2005)?

Strid: I feel so. In my ears it's more solid and diverse than "Stabbing the Drama", and it brings back the elements we all missed in a way. I feel the new album is more melodic, but it feels more powerful, I developed the vocals a lot, making them sound more confident than ever.

Tangra Mega Rock: In the current issue of Britain's Metal Hammer magazine there's a page where you answer some questions about touring. You say your voice does not need exercises after the third date of a tour...

Strid: Yeah. As long a you don't get sick or catch a cold, it's usually fine, because we're touring so much and my vocal cords are so used to my singing style, that... Usually I warm up during the first 3, 4, 5 days of a tour, singing everything from SOILWORK choruses to WHITESNAKE songs, and afterwards I just drink some bourbon and stretch my vocal chords by putting the tongue behind the teeth, and that's about it.

Tangra Mega Rock: You know there are not so many European bands that manage to become big in the States, but I believe SOILWORK and IN FLAMES did. Is this true or it's a fake impression?

Strid: Yes, it's going pretty good there. "Stabbing the Drama" is up to 55,000 copies in America now, and I think we can do even better, because it's such a huge market and it keeps on growing. I think Swedish bands are really popular in the USA, plus what's more interesting is that nowadays American bands sound more like what Swedish bands used to sound.

Ca a l'air bien brutal et compact, à des années-lumières de Stabbing the Drama. ça me fait penser à The Chainheart Machine, mais avec le style que le groupe pratique depuis A Predator's Portrait.

Il y a certains extraits qui m'ont bien plu, tout de même, dont "Bleeding Thorns" et son riff très Slayerien.

Elle m'a rassuré, cette e-card, d'un coup, je reprends espoir

à part la pochette qui est magnifique, musicalement, j'accroche pas du tout... pour moi, ça ne sonne pas, je ne retiens rien, j'ai l'impression d'entendre toujours la même chose... les riffs sont pas trop mal, mais les refrains creux...

Les deux chansons en entier que j'ai écoutées quelques jours avant ne m'ont pas plu du tout, mais ces extraits me redonnent espoir. Je vais enfin pouvoir me faire un avis avec tous les titres en intégralité

Bien sympa cet album, des passages mélodiques bien placés et moins pompeux que sur le précédent je trouve, bah faudra voir à la sortie!

Edit: en tout cas c'est bien meilleur que le dernier Disarmonia Mundi qui m'avait énormément déçu après la baffe prise avec leur premier album!

En tout admirateur con que je suis de ce groupe, ce disque va tourner en boucle et me plaire, mais je ne pense pas que je le mettrais pour autant au niveau des quatre derniers, qui comptaient tous leur lot de putain de refrains accrocheurs, bien plus que sur le petit dernier.

Objectivement, ce disque semble ne rien apporter à la disco du groupe et s'avère donc assez quelconque...

Reste que je m'attendais à 1.000 fois pire

Swedish metallers SOILWORK, who recently completed the LAMB OF GOD/KILLSWITCH ENGAGE U.S. tour in support of their new album "Sworn To A Great Divide", have decided to part ways with guitarist Ola Frenning.

It was felt that Ola resisted the demands of the road and found it difficult to come to terms with the amount of touring scheduled.

"Sworn To A Great Divide" is SOILWORK's fastest seller and the live demand for the band is growing. They intend to play everywhere and fulfill the album's potential.

Vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid says: "It was a very difficult decision to make because Ola has been our friend and bandmate for a very long time."

The decision will not affect any of SOILWORK's plans. Guitarist David Andersson will fill in on their upcoming Finnish/Baltic tour as well as the "Scum Of The Earth" U.S. tour with THROWDOWN. The band will then tour Australia, Japan and Southeast Asia before returning to Europe for festivals and a headlining U.S. tour in the fall.

Ola Frenning comments: "After 10 years, seven albums and several world wide tours, we've realized that we have developed in different directions and have a different set of values, profession wise. The disagreements have reached their peak and it has become an untenable situation. The band's solution is that I part ways with them so that I won't be in the way for the future plans of SOILWORK. However, since I'm not gonna be on the road (at least for a while), I will now be able to continue with my songwriting and producing at another level.
