AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry was the featured guest on Eddie Trunk's "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM last night (Friday, February 15). Some highlights:
* Joe is doing two shows with his sons' band TAB THE BAND. They will play deep AEROSMITH cuts ("Combination"), some JOE PERRY PROJECT stuff, some covers, and more. These special shows take place at the Hard Rock in Boston on February 29 and Hard Rock Café in New York City on March 1. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
* AEROSMITH has had many starts and stops on a new CD. They will start very seriously recording a new CD in a month or so. Perry feels the band is better than ever as players and is ready to make a great new CD.
* Joe spoke about the value and chemistry of bands having original lineups. Making the point that AEROSMITH and CHEAP TRICK are the only two from the '70s still intact.
* Perry said he can understand why Eddie Van Halen would want to play with his son, but can not understand how they would not have had Michael Anthony back in VAN HALEN when they were that close to a true reunion and they could bury the axe with David Lee Roth.
Watch fan-filmed video footage of Joe Perry performing with his sons — singer/bassist Adrian Perry and guitarist Tony Perry, who along with their friend Ben Tileston make up TAB THE BAND on February 8 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut;

Ils ont choisi leur producteur :
AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton has issued the following update:
"The big news is that we had our first meeting and strategy session with our producer Brendan O'Brien (VELVET REVOLVER, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, PEARL JAM, AC/DC, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS). We've been wanting to work with him for a while. The meeting came on the heels of the band all working together for the first two weeks. Things are moving along and it's now on the fast track. We had a day where we all got to listen to everyone's songs and ideas. In the next few weeks we'll be narrowing down what we've got. We can already see things coming into focus - even as new ideas are popping up right and left. Joe (Perry, guitar) survived his knee operation and has obviously done lots of playing during his recuperation.

AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry has told Spinner.com that the band has been paying attention to the latest tour fad of playing full albums in their entirety. Perry said, "We've always wanted to do a show where we played an album all the way from beginning to end. We play a lot of songs, but to hear an album from top to bottom, it's a lot of fun. We'll probably try it this time out."
With the band yet to enter reharsals, the album getting the full live treatment is to be determined, but Perry said, "Anything from the first album to 'Pump' would probably be fair game."

Ou même rien que "Get a grip" bien long
Surtout pas ceux apres "Get a grip"

ça sera "Toys in the Attic" en entier, très bon choix!
Steven Tyler and Joey Kramer of AEROSMITH stopped by the WZLX radio station in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, June 2. They talked to Chuck Nolan, Carter Alan, and Kenny Young about their upcoming tour, the upcoming books, jamming with members of LED ZEPPELIN in London and getting wedding invitations. They also confirmed reports that they will play the whole ""Toys In The Attic" album on the upcoming trek with ZZ TOP.
You can now listen to the interview at this location.
Asked which album he'd like to play in its entirety on tour, AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry recently told VH1 Classic Radio, "I think 'Toys In The Attic' would be fun. We do a lot of songs off the first four records anyway. We've jammed on 'Uncle Salty' onstage a few times. The later records with more songs on them, they would take up too much time in the set. We need to leave some room for some of the other standards."

"Until a couple of years ago, fans would ask for more records like the old records, but that's all fallen off. New material is not that important any more. We've been at this for a long time. I think of some of the songs I've written or co-written and I think, why should I bother trying to top that? It's like Leonardo Da Vinci painting the Madonna again. Why should I paint the Madonna again?"

Even though AEROSMITH hasn't released a record of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play", and an attempt to record with PEARL JAM and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN producer Brendan O'Brien fell apart when they failed to agree on a musical direction. guitarist Joe Perry tells RollingStone.com that he has higher hopes for their next effort. "Looking at the calendar we'll probably be going into the studio sometime around the holidays or maybe in the beginning of next year," he says. "We'll have to take time off from touring to make the best record we can make. We owe it to ourselves to make the best record we can make."
The group just wrapped a quick South American tour that attracted scores of young fans. "Half of them were between the ages of 15 to 25. After the encore at one show, we were getting ready to leave, but we hadn't done 'Crazy'," Perry says. "The kids were screaming so loud for it that we just had to go back onstage and play it."

AEROSMITH entered guitarist Joe Perry's home studio (The Boneyard) in suburban Boston and the Pandora's Box (the band's main studio) in early July with producer Jack Douglas to begin recording its long-awaited 14th studio album. The CD will be AEROSMITH's first set of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play" and first studio offering since 2004's covers CD, "Honkin' On Bobo".
In a brand new online posting, Douglas stated about AEROSMITH's new CD, "The new album should be out around May 2012. I know that's a long wait, but after the South American tour and Japan in October, November and December, we will just get back to work on it in mid-January."
He added, "For those who are asking, this album will be raw, nasty, tough rock with a good deal of the old AEROSMITH 'tongue in cheek.'"
In a videotaped message that was released via AEROSMITH's official web site, bassist Tom Hamilton stated about re-teaming with Douglas, "For those of you who don't know who Jack is, he's the guy who we worked with, producing our best albums of the '70s — 'Get Your Wings', 'Toys In The Attic' and 'Rocks'. And it's really gonna be cool, because there's no one that knows more about the soul of this band and the creative part of this band [than] Jack. We worked with him on [2004's covers CD] 'Honkin' On Bobo', but that wasn't all original material — most of that was not original material. This time it's gonna be all-new AEROSMITH songs."
He continued, "When people say, 'What was it like to work with Jack back then?' all I can say is we just laughed the whole time; there was always laughter going on, and fun, but at the same time really digging deep to get performances that were even better than we thought we could do."
The plan to resume work on a new disc follows the completion of singer Steven Tyler's first season as a judge on "American Idol". The band, minus Perry, did get together for a week earlier this year in Los Angeles to work on new material.
