AFTER FOREVER – Prison of Desire: The Album – The Sessions

Not simply good, no, magisterial!’ With these words After Forever introduced themselves to the rock front in 2000; a success story that continues to the present day. Transmission Records shows how it all started, by re-releasing the band’s debut album. It’s an impressive 2 CD document, containing no less than 20 bonus tracks. Release date June 5th.
Prison of Desire roams through inky black Wagnerian passages, draughty cathedrals, ethereal apparitions. Singer Floor Jansen’s classically trained soprano voice is a true revelation and can stand up as easily to a complete choir as to the deeply shrouded grunts. Prison of Desire operates in the same twilight zone as, for instance, Nightwish, the Gathering, Therion and Within Temptation, but, at the same time, has its own unique sound.
Prison of Desire was lucidly mixed by Oscar Holleman, and featured singer Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) as special guest. The CD received a stunning reception, being nominated as one of the most impressive Dutch metal debut albums ever. A beacon that other female fronted bands have grinded their teeth over ever since…
The re-release contains 2 CD’s, with 31 re-mastered tracks, including a track never that never appeared on album before, previously unreleased demo’s, rarities and alternative takes, with a total playing time of 2½ hours. The release comes with a 28 pages booklet, in which former guitarist Mark Jansen, who is currently doing really well with Epica, reminisces the early days of After Forever and the recordings of Prison of Desire.
The complete After Forever catalogue will be re-issued, both in sound (CD, digital downloads) as image (DVD), with a lot of previously unreleased material. Order you copy in our online shop.
