Swedish melodic death metallers NIGHTRAGE have issued issued the following update:

"The last months it has been a lot of activety without you guys knowing it. A lot of stuff is going on in the future and we aim to take NIGHTRAGE to a new level. This take a lot of effort and time so it has brought us both some good, and some bad news.

"The bad news first. Tomas [Lindberg] has decided to leave us and here is his statement:

"'Dear fans of NIGHTRAGE and metal in general, I'm sad to announce my departure from the mighty NIGHTRAGE. This is a band I joined some time ago to help my friend Marios [Iliopoulos[, guitar] out. But over the course of time I've grown deeply fond of being a part of this extraordinary band. But as you might know I'm a busy soul and have no other option that to give up one of my projects, only because of lack of time. My only comfort is that NIGHTRAGE now can continue at full speed without me holding them back. But I will continue to follow their career, 'cause I have great expectations for the future of this band. Hail Marios! Hail NIGHTRAGE.'

"But this metal machinery got to keep on moving and the good news is that we have found a new killer singer, Jimmie Strimell (picture) and he will blow your mind. We have started to rehearse some songs and he has added a lot to the songs with his voice and charisma. Here is his statement:

"'Hello all you NIGHTRAGE fans out there. This is Jimmie, the new singer, I just want to tell you that I am so happy to join NIGHTRAGE and it's a big honour to take over after Tomas. I promise you guys that I will do the songs justice and you will not be disappointed. Stay metal and have patience, 'cause soon we will come and rock your town.'

"NIGHTRAGE has never been a project, and we will soon be out there to show you what we are all about. With this new line up NIGHTRAGE will play live, A LOT. So stay tuned about upcoming tours."

NIGHTRAGE's sophomore album, "Descent Into Chaos", was released earlier this year via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Sweet Vengeance" was mixed at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer Patrik J. Sten and was mastered at Tailor Maid Production in Stockholm with Peter in de Betou.

"Swedish metal at its best!" and "The first legitimate successor of AT THE GATES' milestone 'Slaughter Of The Soul'" is what Germany's Metal Hammer magazine wrote back in the early to mid-2000s when NIGHTRAGE released their much-lauded albums "Sweet Vengeance" (2003) and "Descent Into Chaos" (2005) on Century Media Records.

Now, on "Vengeance Descending" you now have the chance to discover these albums on one double CD including detailed liner notes by Tomas Lindberg (AT THE GATES), Marios Iliopoulos, Fredrik Nordström (DREAM EVIL; producer of AT THE GATES, IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY) and Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND) as well as new artwork (see below) by Gustavo Sazes (ARCH ENEMY, THE CROWN, FIREWIND, DREAM EVIL). Also, exclusive to this release is a previously unreleased track named "Gallant Deeds" featuring lead vocals by Mikael Stanne from DARK TRANQUILLITY.

Stanne comments: "A long time ago my friend Marios asked me to sing on one of his songs for the next NIGHTRAGE album. Being a fan of his work and NIGHTRAGE, I, of course, agreed. The song was very different and very cool. So I was happy to do it. It didn't fit on the album though so this is the very first time you guys get to hear it. Hope you like it!"

Formed in 2000 by mastermind Marios Iliopoulos after the demise of EXHUMATION, NIGHTRAGE became one of the most sensational melodic death metal outfits after the millennium. Not only because of Iliopoulos' creative skills, but also because of a legendary lineup that easily deserves being labelled a melodic death metal fan's wet dream come true:

Greek/Swedish melodic death metallers NIGHTRAGE will release their sixth studio album, "The Puritan", on April 24 via Despotz Records. The music video for the CD's first single, "Kiss Of A Sycophant", can be seen below.

Says NIGHTRAGE guitarist and founding member Marios Iliopoulos: "'Kiss Of A Sycophant' is traditional NIGHTRAGE melodic death metal. We feel that with this album we manage to combine the death metal ferocity with ethereal melodies and great hooks all in one nice metal amalgam."

"The Puritan" — described in a press release as "an uncompromising, eerie, dramatic and melodic death metal journey in its purest essence" — welcomes new NIGHTRAGE vocalist Ronnie Nyman to the mix. Nyman joins Iliopoulos and bassist Anders Hammer after performing with the band last year on its Japanese and Russian tours.

"The Puritan" was produced by Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, DEVIN TOWNSEND, SOILWORK) and George Nerantzis at Dugout Productions in Uppsala, Sweden.

NIGHTRAGE was founded in 2000 in Greece by Marios Iliopoulos and his close friend, Gus G., who departed after the band's second album, "Descent Into Chaos".

During the band's 14-year career, NIGHTRAGE has released five studio albums and toured across Europe, the U.S., Canada and Asia while employing various musicians from AT THE GATES, EVERGREY, DARK TRANQUILLITY, AMARANTHE and FIREWIND.

NIGHTRAGE signed a record/publishing deal with Swedish music company Despotz in summer 2014 before entering the studio with Daniel Bergstrand and George Nerantzis.

"Today we are proud to announce that we have signed an album deal with Despotz Records," commented Iliopoulos. "We are super excited to work with such a dedicated bunch of people."
