THE OPERATION:MINDCRIME TOUR BEGINNING IN SPRING 2013 TO FEATURE ALL FIFTEEN SONGS OF ALBUM ALONG WITH SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCES AND SURPRISES

Further laying down the gauntlet and keeping the music he’s created over the past three decades alive, Queensryche vocalist and founding member Geoff Tate will be taking the newly-announced line-up on the road next year to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the band’s epic 1988 release, Operation: Mindcrime.

The tour — with dates slated to begin in April (see below) — will feature the arsenal of bassist Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne/Quiet Riot/Whitesnake/Dio), drummer Bobby Blotzer (Ratt), guitarist Kelly Gray (Queensryche/Myth) and keyboardist Randy Gane (Myth) along with special guest appearances and plenty of surprises.

“It’s great to be performing with all of these guys who have been true friends for years,” comments Geoff. “Kelly, Randy and I formed Myth more than 30 years ago and I’ve known Rudy and Bobby for several years as well. I think we are all inspired by the collaboration and couldn’t be more excited to bring it to our fans next year.”

In 2006, Queensryche brought the theatrical interpretation of the Mindcrime saga to audiences all over the world.

A year later, the band would release Mindcrime at the Moore, a double DVD featuring the theatrical performances of both Operation: Mindcrime I & II albums that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Music DVD Chart.

The DVD set would mark the band’s first #1 chart debut, quickly achieving gold status, selling over 50,000 units.

The performance of Operation: Mindcrime next spring will cover all fifteen songs from the album including such fan favorites as “Revolution Calling,” “Operation: Mindcrime,” “I Don’t Believe in

Love,” and the closing track, “Eyes of a Stranger.”

It will also feature other selections from the Queensryche catalog including songs from Operation: Mindcrime II.

The news of the 25th Anniversary Mindcrime Tour comes just a few weeks after Tate’s eagerly-awaited sophomore solo release, Kings & Thieves, was released on InsideOut Music (11/6/12).

His first solo release in more than a decade, Kings & Thieves is a journey into the mind of one of rock’s most dynamic vocalists.

“My goal with this record was to make a solid rock album,” says Tate. “I wanted it to be an album that I could play live that would be both satisfying and fun because, as a singer, you need to create a show that has a lot of dynamics to it and takes people on a ride.”

Hang on to your seats.

It’s been said that “a rolling stone gathers no moss,” and that couldn’t be more true of Tate, as he hit the ground running in mid-October for an intensive trek of tour dates in support of Kings & Thieves, expected to last throughout the year.

Among the highlights of the current tour were several Canadian dates with the legendary Alice Cooper earlier this month.

La tournée célébrant les 25 ans d'"Operation: mindcrime" (encore) ayant sillonné les États-Unis en Avril avant de reprendre à la mi-Mai, je vous laisse juger par vous-mêmes :
The Geoff Tate-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE hit the road last month to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the band's epic 1988 release, "Operation: Mindcrime", performing all fifteen songs from the album along with other well-known hits and rarities from the catalog they've compiled over the past 30 years.

Fan-filmed video footage of the April 26 concert at Hemisfair Park in San Antonio, Texas can be seen below.

The setlist for the show was as follows:
Spoiler
01. I Remember Now
02. Anarchy-X
03. Revolution Calling
04. Operation: Mindcrime
05. Speak
06. Drum Solo
07. Spreading The Disease
08. The Mission
09. Suite Sister Mary
10. The Needle Lies
11. Electric Requiem
12. Breaking The Silence
13. I Don't Believe In Love
14. Waiting For 22
15. My Empty Room
16. Eyes Of A Stranger

Encore:

18. Best I Can
19. Jet City Woman
20. Empire
Although a lineup for Tate's QUEENSRŸCHE was originally announced in the fall of 2012, things have changed. The band now features Tate along with bassist Rudy Sarzo (OZZY OSBOURNE, DIO, WHITESNAKE, QUIET RIOT), guitarist Kelly Gray (QUEENSRŸCHE 1998-2001), keyboardist Randy Gane and new additions, guitarist Robert Sarzo (QUIET RIOT, HURRICANE) and drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, DIO, RHINO BUCKET).

Deadline Music/Cleopatra Records recently released "Cold", the new single from the Geoff Tate-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE, via iTunes. The track, which was mixed by Anthony Focx (NEWSTED, AEROSMITH, NIGHT RANGER, TED NUGENT), will also be released as a special limited-edition seven-inch vinyl single with a newly recorded version of the QUEENSRŸCHE classic "Silent Lucidity" — mixed by Jürgen Engler (DORO, DIE KRUPPS) — on the B-side.

"Cold" comes off QUEENSRŸCHE's new album, "Frequency Unknown", which sold around 5,500 copies in its first week of release in the United States to land at position No. 82 on The Billboard 200 chart.

QUEENSRŸCHE's previous studio CD, "Dedicated To Chaos", opened with around 8,000 units back in July 2011 to enter the chart at No. 70. The band's 2009 effort, the epic concept album "American Soldier", premiered with 21,000 copies to debut at No. 25. This was roughly half the first-week tally registered by QUEENSRŸCHE's "Operation: Mindcrime II" album, which shifted 44,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release back in April 2006 to land at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 chart.

QUEENSRŸCHE's 2003 effort, "Tribe", sold 20,000 copies in the first week while 1999's "Q2K", opened with sales of 28,000.

QUEENSRŸCHE's top-selling album by far is 1990's "Empire", which was certified triple-platinum in October 1994 for sales in excess of three million copies in the United States. The original "Operation: Mindcrime" release (1988) attained platinum status in August 1991, while 1994's "Promised Land" reached the same plateau in December 1994.

As previously reported, Deadline Music/Cleopatra Records is making available the "new and improved" mixes of "Frequency Unknown" to any customers who have purchased the original mix version and are dissatisfied with the audio. Simply e-mail the label a scan of your actual receipt for the physical CD to Queensryche@cleorecs.com and they will happily send you a replacement disc — at no charge whatsoever. No questions asked!

Asked about the decision to remix "Frequency Unknown" shortly before the album's release, Tate told "The Continental Breakfast With James & Raina": "We were a little rushed on the mixing end of it, so after listening to it back, we're having some of the songs remixed now before the album comes out. But that's typical with records — you have to have them in on time. So sometimes you compromise in areas. Luckily, with this situation, we get to go back and correct some areas in the sound where we thought it was kind of lacking. So that's fine. I've done that on… gosh… probably three quarters of the records I've ever made. It's no new thing, but it's a luxury when you get to fix it."

"Frequency Unknown" is packaged with bonus tracks — four QUEENSRŸCHE classics, newly recorded, including the smash hit single "Silent Lucidity". Guest musicians on the CD include K.K. Downing (JUDAS PRIEST), Chris Poland (MEGADETH), Ty Tabor (KING'S X), Paul Bostaph (SLAYER, TESTAMENT, EXODUS), Lita Ford, Brad Gillis (NIGHT RANGER), Dave Meniketti (Y&T) and Craig Locicero (FORBIDDEN).
