Arjen donne quelques informations sur cette collaboration, il s'agirait d'un double album conceptuel :

Dutch guitarist/composer Arjen Lucassen (AYREON) will collaborate with former THE GATHERING singer Anneke van Giersbergen on a new project. Arjen says: "Expect an epic concept double album, a combination of 'classical meets metal' and 'acoustic folk."

Pas beaucoup plus d'infos, mais le projet progresse :

Ayreon mastermind Arjen Lucassen recently announced his next album as a collaboration with vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering), saying it will be "an epic concept double album, a combination of 'classical meets metal' and 'acoustic folk'." He has posted a new update online:

"The new project with Anneke is progressing VERY well indeed, we’re both excited about it! We’re recording guide vocals now and promise more details soon."

Anneke Van Giersbergen also commented on the project: "Yesch!! I'll be teaming up with the one and only Arjen Lucassen for a concept double album! It will be the two of us, a fabulous overall theme and everything between very loud and pure acoustic. This will be something special!"

Connaissant Arjen cela ne pourra être que du bon, alors en plus avec la voix magique d'Aneke... Un nouvel excellent album est en marche.

"Hi everybody! I'm delighted to announce that my collaboration with Arjen Anthony Lucassen will be called The Gentle Storm. The album is slated for an early 2015 release.

Many of you may already know that Arjen stopped touring some years ago, but together we have formed a killer band to go on the road with me most of 2015 in support of the new album.

"We recorded bass guitar with Johan Van Stratum for The Gentle Storm album. Old Stream of Passion times revisited, and Johan got even better! We recorded all his parts in just one afternoon. And of course it wouldn't be complete without the usual batch of silly childish pictures..."

The official press release for The Gentle Storm courtesy of BraveWords scribe Carl Begai is as follows:

The Gentle Storm double album is an epic production of Ayreon proportions, divided into two parts as a full-on metal assault (CD1) and lighter folk arrangements (CD2). It also heralds Anneke's return to the realms of heavy guitars and soaring vocals reminiscent of The Gathering's breakthrough album, Mandylion.

The album release will be followed by live dates through the spring and summer European festival season. Known for touring extensively year after year, Anneke will take The Gentle Storm on the road backed by well known Dutch talents. Arjen, however, will not be part of the live production.

Des concerts prévus à partir du printemps prochain donc, des festivals ensuite, mais sans Arjen !

L'album s'appelle "The Diary" et contient les mêmes titres sur chaque CD, présentés sous 2 visages différents ; le premier CD [intitulé "Gentle"] sera en effet entièrement acoustique et folk, avec de nombreux instruments 'exotiques'. Le deuxième CD ["Storm"] est un album qualifié de bombastic orchestral metal. (VS-Webzine)

Merci pour ces deux extraits.
Sans conteste, ma préférence se tourne vers la version "posée" où la voix d'Anneke est bien mise en relief et soutenue par de subtils arrangements, c'est un vrai régal.
Par contre, j'abhorre ce sous-genre appelé "metal symphonique" que je trouve d'une vulgarité sans nom. Je ne peux m'empêcher de penser à Epica et au gâchis qui est fait de la voix de Simone...
Dommage que les 2 CDs ne soient pas vendus séparément.

Dubitatif à la 1ère écoute mais finalement c'est sympa, ça casse pas des barres mais c'est un joli petit titre.

Tout à fait d'accord. Entendre Anneke est toujours un plaisir, le morceau est bien joué, mais la composition ne m'intéresse pas.

La voix d'anneke est fabuleuse mais les compos sont quelconques ... beaucoup de notes pour pas grand chose.
Je vais me réecouter the gathering tout de suite ....

Au moins le clip est ridic... euh amusant.

Je rejoins l'avis de Ganash, pas d'ambition dans ce titre mais au final ça se laisse écouter.

Le titres est cool et le clip est effectivement amusant mais bien fait. Je pense que les gars ont surtout voulu délirer et je préfère 100 fois ça à une merde d'Ultra Vomit

Aimant la voix d'Anneke et faisant une confiance aveugle au père Lucassen (qui ne m'a jamais déçu) j'ai déjà précommandé l'album. Vivement la fin du mois
