Thin Lizzy : 2016-2017 (concerts anniversaires)

2016 is a year that includes a couple of important anniversaries in the history of THIN LIZZY. On March 26, 1976, THIN LIZZY released the iconic "Jailbreak" album to the world, featuring such classic rock staples as "The Boys Are Back In Town" and the title track, "Jailbreak", and it became one of the most important albums of that era. Now we are 40 years on since the release of that milestone and it is time to celebrate it. 2016 also sees 30 years since Phil Lynott passed away (January 4, 1986) and the world lost a rock legend. But his legacy lives on and celebrating that legacy is what is in store.

In the summer of 2016 going into 2017, THIN LIZZY will stage a handful of special shows to commemorate these important milestones.

The THIN LIZZY lineup for these concerts will consist of vocalist Ricky Warwick, guitarists Scott Gorham and Damon Johnson, and Darren Wharton on keyboards. As special guest, they have recruited season drummer Mikkey Dee from MOTÖRHEAD.

Says Scott Gorham: "With BLACK STAR RIDERS taking some time off the road to work on their third album, I thought it would be really cool to do some THIN LIZZY shows as it's an anniversary year, to have some fun and to re-live the good old days. We will only do half a dozen or so dates to keep them special.

"For personal reasons, Brian Downey won’t be with us but we have the incredible Mikkey Dee on the drum stool, which we are all very excited about. We will announce who is on bass shortly."

Adds Dee: "It's an honor to be asked to play with THIN LIZZY on these dates. Being a lifelong fan I am so happy and excited to playing with the band on these shows. It's going to be great!"

J'aime beaucoup Mikkey Dee mais il ne convient pas vraiment pour du Thin Lizzy quand on connait la finesse du jeu de Downey.
Ca devient carrément pathétique ces histoires de Come back Tour, Farewell Tour, Anniversary Tour etc...
Après avoir été dubitatif à l'idée de la "reformation", j'avais été enthousiasmé par les shows que j'avais pu voir en 2011 et 2012. Je trouvais que c'était un bel hommage finalement. Ca tenait la route. Ensuite, Gorham décide de créer Black Star Riders ce que j'ai compris artistiquement parlant. C'était tout à son honneur de ne pas vouloir uniquement vivre sur le passé. A priori, BSR ne rameute pas les foules (60 entrées à Ales, 200 à Paris) et il revient en arrière. Ca me désole un peu même si je serai toujours content de pouvoir entendre du TL en live.

Pour les entrées, surtout en France je pense, ils étaient tête d'affiche au Rock Hard l'an dernier par exemple et c'était plein - même si ça reste différent en fest, mais je sais qu'ils ramènent du monde ici même seuls. Mais sur le fond de la reformation etc. je suis carrément d'accord. Après avoir ces morceaux là avec ensuite Blackmore et surtout avec l'ajout de Mannfred Mann's Earth Band, ce sera forcément bonnard sur l'ensemble, enfin au moins pour ces dates (j'espérais vraiment ce genre de tournure pour les Monsters of Rock, j'avais peur d'avoir des trucs moisis trop jeunes qui s'ajoutent comme sur certaines affiches sous ce nom ces dernières année du simple fait que ça ramène du monde et que c'est la soit-disant relève, heureusement c'est pas le cas ).

Pour info, c'est finalement Tom Hamilton de Aerosmith qui tiendra la basse et Scott Travis de Judas Priest à la batterie et non plus Mickey Dee ... sauf pour la date du 6 au Sweden où ce sera Ian Haugland (Europe)

THIN LIZZY announce Bass Player and New Drummer for 2016 / 2017 Anniversary shows!

Thin Lizzy are very proud to announce Aerosmith’s Tom Hamilton will be playing bass on the forthcoming Anniversary shows planned for 2016 / 2017.

Tom, an Aerosmith founding member, joins Guitarists Scott Gorham & Damon Johnson, together with Lead Vocalist Ricky Warwick and Keyboard Player Darren Wharton on the following shows:

July 17th 2016 - Spain, Barcelona – Rock Fest

January 19th-23rd 2017 – USA, Ft Lauderdale – Rock Legends V Cruise

Tom Hamilton: “I’m really psyched to be playing these shows with Thin Lizzy during my downtime with Aerosmith this summer. It’ll be great to rock out to their classic songs onstage”.

In addition to Tom’s appointment on Bass, previously announced Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee has been replaced by Judas Priest Drummer Scott Travis on all shows except August 6th in Sweden, where Europe drummer Ian Haugland will be on the drum stool.

Mikkey Dee:
"Unfortunately, due to circumstances that will be announced very soon, I cannot play the six shows with Thin Lizzy in 2016 & 2017. As a life long fan of the band, I truly wish I could have been a part of this, but the reason will be revealed as soon as possible. I wish my great friends Scott Travis and Ian Haugland all the best with these shows and I know they will kick ass!"

On his appointment, Judas Priest’s Scott Travis adds:
"First of all, let me offer a sincere Thank You to Brian Downey and Thin Lizzy for allowing me to sit in with the band! Thin Lizzy are undisputed legends and to be a small part of their lineage is a humble honor for me. I hope to do the position good. It's gonna' be a blast!

pas faux. Ils auraient pu prendre Steven Adler ou Matt Sorum qui sont disponible vu qu'ils ne font pas parti de la reformation des Guns.

SCORPIONS Recruit MOTÖRHEAD Drummer MIKKEY DEE For U.S. Tour

Iconic rockers SCORPIONS will hit the road in May for twelve North American headlining dates with Mikkey Dee, formerly of MOTÖRHEAD, sitting in on drums. Dee will be filling in for James Kottak, who is currently on break while he seeks medical attention.

Swedish-born Mikkey Dee joined MOTÖRHEAD in 1992 and is well-respected among the rock and metal community. SCORPIONS singer Klaus Meine states: "We would like to continue our 'Return To Forever' tour with James, but we have to realize that his health is priority. We wish James a speedy recovery and he will be back to rock you later in the fall! We look forward to seeing all our fans this month."
